“Wellness Encompasses a healthy body, a sound mind, and a tranquil spirit. Enjoy the journey as you strive for wellness.”                                             ~Laurette Gagnon Beaulieu

Thank you to the 480 teachers who took the time to complete The PSTA Teacher Wellness Survey!  57% of you said that you believe that teachers would benefit from having a Teacher Wellness Committee and 88% indicated an openness to receiving ideas for promoting wellness for teachers in your school!  Our SSL’s will be asked to bring feedback from teachers in their schools to our next Rep Assembly on March 12th. They are encouraged to bring along another colleague to take part in a brainstorming activity designed to gather information on how the PSTA Wellness Committee can support, assist and encourage teachers to make wellness a priority.  SSL’s can look forward to more information coming soon.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

The New Year s a great time to reflect on what is going well in our lives, what we need more of and what we can do without.  Self Care is not a selfish act – rather it is imperative to make wellness a priority, especially for those who work in a caring profession like teaching. Need some ideas on how?

Check out the  The Sandbox.  This site has been created by the Alberta School Employee Benefit Plan (ASEBP) and their provincial partners.  You will find a plethora of great ideas!

Re-Imagine Education – Take the Survey!

The deadline for the online Re-Imagine Education Survey is January 1st.   The Staff and Community feedback gathered at a number of schools and communities provides invaluable information and insight!

PSTA says thank you to Michelle Dament for her many years of service as PSTA treasurer.  Her dedication and hard work has not gone unnoticed and we wish her well!  We welcome Jen Green to the position of PSTA treasurer.

Thanks to those who participated in the letter writing campaign to the Honourable Gordon Wyant, Minister of Education for the Province of Saskatchewan!  Teacher voices are powerful when communicating the challenges we face in our classroom.

Re-Imagine Education is in full swing!

The PSTA had the opportunity to initiate a discussion about the future of education in Saskatchewan by facilitating two break out sessions encouraging participants to Re-Imagine Education.  The Growing Together Conference was held at Martensville HS on October 20th. The conference was a chance for SCCs, Parents and Schools to come together to engage in education-related discussions.

What is Re-Imagine Education?

Re-Imagine Education is a bold initiative asking us to challenge our views of what education looks like today and what it could look like in the future. This initiative will clarify the issues facing education today, imagine what the future might look like and plan how to make the vision a reality.

Education is vital to the future of our province. It affects everything and everyone. The decisions we make about education today will change the way we experience tomorrow. We want to hear from you about building classrooms that meet current and future needs.
