Relationship Building and Member Engagement:

  • School visits- I have visited approximately ⅔ of schools in the division. I will have finished visiting every school by the end of November.
  • Education Week Social Media Contest allowed us to increase our social media presence and followers.
  • Continued regular meetings with Division office staff to maintain communication and open dialogue.

Advocacy:

  • Waiting to hear from the STF Executive to see if we have approval for meeting with MLAs.
  • The Board Liaison meeting (Board and PSTA Executive) will happen this fall– still waiting on the board to provide a date.
  • Meet with CUPE 4254 President and Vice President
  • Met with Jessica Brown, President of Saskatoon Teachers’ Association

Strengthening our Organization:

  • PSTA Constitution (2026) has been approved by the STF Executive. The Executive will be continuing to review the Constitution and Policies and Guidelines documents this year for further changes.
  • Governance Review
    • A STF Local Association grant has been applied for to assist with costs.
    • Governance will be providing a proposal regarding the business portion of the AGM at the November Representative Assembly based on feedback from schools. Nearly 80% of our schools provide feedback to the AGM questions.
    • The governance committee developed a year plan and will be looking at elections next. Proposed changes will come to SSLs at the Representative Assembly and brought back to schools for feedback.
  • A membership list of all teachers on contract with non-work email has been created. This allows the PSTA to communicate with all members. We are still working on obtaining the email addresses of all Prairie Spirit substitute teachers.
  • Attended SSL-ebration with Prairie Spirit SSLs
  • Attended Fall Council with Prairie Spirit Councillors/Executive.
