STF Councillor Nominee: Amanda Nelson

I’ve been employed with Prairie Spirit School Division for six years. I’ve taught at Stobart Community School (SCS) and SeLS, I was a learning facilitator at SCS, and I’m currently a strategic facilitator at division office. I first became involved with the PSTA as a School Staff Liaison for the 2020-2021 school year, and last year, I served as an STF Councillor.

I currently serve as a member of the professional development committee, which I joined part-way through the last school year. My brief involvement in the PSTA sparked a passion for advocating for all teachers, regardless of what role they may have in our division. I am a firm believer that representation matters and that reflexivity and allyship must be practiced not only by individuals, but also by organizations. I am experienced with supporting teachers and schools with Indigenous education and anti-racist practices, which will be an asset to the role as a councillor, if elected. ekosi & maarsii.
